About Capital City Sports Academy

Capital City Sports Academy is a tuition-free public charter school in Columbus, Ohio, serving students in kindergarten through 8th grade. We were built on a single conviction: that academic excellence and athletic excellence are not competing priorities, but reinforcing ones. Students who learn discipline on the court carry it into the classroom. Students who are challenged in the classroom compete harder everywhere else. Our job is to develop both — and the character that holds them together.

Our Four Pillars

Academics

Rigorous instruction and individualized support that hold student-athletes to the same high standard in the classroom as on the field.

Every student receives a double dose of reading and math daily, taught in small groups at their individual level. Free tutoring and academic support are available to every family, and social-emotional learning is built into the core program rather than added on.

Athletics

Elite-level coaching, training, and competition that develop skill, discipline, and the drive to perform under pressure.

Athletics are integrated into the academic school day rather than offered only after it. Students compete in basketball, soccer, volleyball, cheerleading, and flag football — and every student makes the team.

Character

Integrity, accountability, and service, taught deliberately and reinforced daily, because how a student competes reveals who they are.

Leadership and teamwork are taught on purpose at Capital City Sports Academy, supported by a positive school culture program and on-site counseling and emotional support through NYAP.

Life Readiness

The habits, relationships, and resilience that carry forward long after the last game — into college, career, and community.

We are preparing students for the next forty years, not just the next grade level.
